I’m thinking about getting a hedgehog for a pet, but I don’t know too much about them. I was wondering if they’re friendly or playful at all, or if they’re mostly just quiet pets. And I was also wondering what their price range was, and if they’re really expensive to keep.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Hedgehogs can be great pets from any age. They do have super sharp quils so you will have to waer gloves while handling it until it begins to trust you. and it depends on where you live- how much they cost. I have sen them here in Alabama fomr $75-$200.
hedgehogs make great pets- if you have the time to tame them. They are naturally skiddish and will probably be a pain in your but for the first few weeks until they get used to you handling them. BUT they are neat and tidy things usually (they can learn to use a litter box!), and are pretty easy to keep happy as long as they are fed and get exercise. The one downside is their quills, it takes some time to get used to them yourself, and you shouldn’t ever only handle your hedgie with a glove- they will never get used to you that way. I found an easy way to get them to open up is to blow where their face is, my hedgie opens up pretty quickly when I do that. They are also pretty quiet, but they are nocturnal animals so if your planning on keeping it in your room and are a light sleeper I wouldn’t suggest a hedgie (you can train them to keep the same hours as you it just takes time). Heres a good website! hedgehogcentral.com. The one I have was about $75 just the hedgie, $200 after I bought food and a cage and toys and such. Price will depend on how rare a color you get. They are inexpensive to keep, most of their diet can be cat food, and a small bag will last forever. Vet bills can get pricy tho because they are an exotic animal.
Hedgehog are great pets at any age really. They just have to get to know you!
